The thing is that the legacy "nova-network" will manage the ips to give to your vm instances and i thinik for that purpose it uses DHCP. you can use floating ip to assign specific ips to your instances.

Ok thanks. Yes, eth0 is for mgmt. I will take a look at the floating IP assignment. I was hoping to not have to mess with it and just use hard-coded IP's since this is just for lab testing.
